Reading Standard:
ELACC5RL3: Compare and contrast two or more characters, settings, or events in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., how characters interact).
Reading Lessons
Students will be participating in reading stations working one on one with staff.
The students will be reading Charlotte's Web and complete a sequencing of events activity about the story. The students will also use pictures to compare and contrast Wilbur and Charlotte.
Students will also be working on their IEP reading and writing goals at this time.
Math Standard:
MCC5.G.4 Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
Math Lessons
Students will be participating in math stations working one on one with staff.
The students will work on identifying two-dimensional shapes by sorting the shapes by properties and by colors. The students will also work on describing the shapes. For example, how many sides a square has or which shapes has longer sides a square or rectangle.
Students will also be working on their math IEP goals at this time.
Science Standard:
S5L1. Students will classify organisms into groups and relate how they determined the groups with how and why scientists use classification.
Science Lessons
Skill Acquisition (Small Group)
Miss Rachel will present a PowerPoint to the students about Fish. Throughout the powerpoint, Miss Rachel will have the students come to the Smart Board and point to certain pictures. Miss Rachel will also ask them questions throughout the powerpoint.
Miss Rachel will pass out visuals to the students to go along with the vocabulary introduced to the student.
On days 2 and 4 Miss Rachel will show the powerpoint of birds, mammals, and reptiles to review.
Each day Miss Rachel will go over the difference between mammals and fish using visuals.
Enrichment Activity
Day 1: Miss Rachel will give students a Fish web and the students will use picture communication symbols to fill in the web. The web will consist of all the characteristics of fish.
Day 2: Students will each be given pictures of animals and they will sort the pictures into their classifications by putting the picture into envelopes. For example, a envelope will have mammal written on it so all the animal pictures that are mammals will be put into that envelope. Throughout this activity, the staff will be asking the students questions.
Day 3: Miss Rachel will read a book about fish to the students. Any time Miss Rachel says the word fish the students will need to hold up a picture of a fish. Then, the students will complete a comprehension worksheet about the book.
Day 4: The students will first read a paragraph about fish then complete a worksheet about the paragraph.
Day 5: Students will blow bubble like fish with a paint mixture. Then, the students will place papers on the bubbles. This will make the paper look like water that fish live in. The student will also do a cooking activity with making blue jello and putting Swedish fish into the blue to look like fish swimming.

Social Studies Lessons

Students will also have pictures that go along with the powerpoint and follow instructions like matching pictures.
Enrichment Activity
Day 1: Students will read a paragraph about the Grand Canyon. Then, the students will complete a worksheet on what was read to them.
Day 2: Students will match pictures of Arizona with pictures on the Grand Canyon. The students will also match pictures of Utah with pictures of the Great Salt Lake.
Day 3: Students will sort pictures of Arizona, Grand Canyon, Utah, and Great Salt Lake. Then, the students will combine Arizona and Grand Canyon together and combined Utah and Great Salt Lake together.
Day 4: Each student will receive a map of the United States of America and they will use a marker and color in Arizona and Utah. Then, the students will receive a map of Arizona and color in where the Grand Canyon is located. Same with Utah and the Great Salt Lake.
Day 5: Students will then use water colors to create a picture of the Grand Canyon.

The students will also receive pictures of amphibians and mammals the students will need to sort these pictures by putting the pictures in different containers.
Day 3: Miss Rachel will read a paragraph about amphibians to the students. Any time Miss Rachel says the word amphibian the students will need to hold up a picture of a amphibian. Then, the students will complete a comprehension worksheet about the paragraph.
Day 4: The students will each choose an amphibian. Then the students will write about their amphibian they choose. For example, a student might choose frog. The students will write the frog is green or the frog lays eggs underwater.
Day 5: Students will create a frog craft. Through, this process of the craft the students will be making choices and being creative.

Day 2: Students will read a paragraph about Great Salt Lake. Then answer comprehension questions about the Great Salt Lake.
Day 3: Students will sort pictures of the important locations and states into envelopes. For example, an envelope will have Arizona on it so the students will need to put the pictures of Arizona and Grand Canyon in that envelope.
Day 4: The students will then complete an important place worksheet, which will consist of writing what the name of the place under the picture.
Day 5: Students will then use shaving cream and blue paint to create an abstract picture of the Great Salt Lake.
October 8-12

Reading Lessons
Students will be participating in reading stations with one on one staff.
The students will continue to read Charlotte's Web. The students will answer comprehension questions about the story. The students will also be finding the main idea, setting, and main characters of the story.
In addition, the students will work on Listening and Speaking by the students will take turns giving and receiving questions from each other about the story. The student who receives the questions will answer the question. Then, the student who asked the question will elaborate on their response.
The students will also being working on their individualize IEP goals.
Math Standards
MCC.5.NF.6: Solve real world problems involving multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem.
The students will be participating in math stations with one on one instruction.
Students will complete a GAA worksheet of matching fractions to solve the real world problem.
The students will be completing fraction worksheets. Such as cutting a pizza in half etc.
During this time students, will be using manipulatives to understand fractions.
The students will also be working on their individualize IEP goals at this time.

Day 1: Miss Rachel will give each student a diagram of an animal cell. The students will label the different parts of the animal cell by matching words. (GAA)
Day 2: Students will each receive a plant cell and animal cell. Miss Rachel will hold up a picture of an animal or a plant. The students will hold up the cell that matches the picture.
Day 3: Miss Rachel will read a paragraph about animal cell to the students. Any time Then, the students will complete a comprehension worksheet about the paragraph. (Jalil will math pictures)
Day 4: The students will receive an animal cell and color the different parts of the cell different colors.
Day 5: Students will create an animal cell model using different materials. (GAA)

Day 2: Students will complete a GAA work sample by writing the states next to the important locations.
Day 3: Students will sort pictures of Arizona, Grand Canyon, Utah, and Great Salt Lake. Then, the students will combine Arizona and Grand Canyon together and combined Utah and Great Salt Lake together.
Day 4: Each student will receive a map of California. They will then pick between all of the important locations of which ones are in California. Then, the students will read a paragraph about the Salton Sea and answer comprehension questions about the paragraph. (Jalil will match pictures of the Salton Sea with the Salton Sea.
Day 5: Students will use modeling sand to create the Mojave Desert on paper.

The students will read an adapted version of "Stone Fox." The students will find the main character of the story and sequence events. Some students will be working on pointing to certain characters in the story and use pictures to answer questions of the story.
The students will also be reading Charlotte's Web as a small group. After the story was read to the students, the students will take turns asking each other questions about the story. The students will work on answering the questions and elaborating on the answers.
The students will also being working on their individualize reading and writing IEP goals.

Day 3: Students will be reading a paragraph of President Obama then answering questions about the paragraph. Some students will read the paragraph with assistance then match pictures of president Obama and what was in the paragraph.
Day 4: Science
Day 5: Students complete a craft of making a president.
